Sources & Notes

All sources used to create the figures are listed below. Figures include inflation (averaged) using the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Composite Price Index (CPI) for 2016 - 2017. Figures are provided in good faith and for general reference purposes only.

¹ = As stated, figures are rounded where required. For example, the actual cost per second is £0.1592894479325216. Figures provided in the Key Facts section are rounded accordingly. Full data available upon request.

* = AM salary changes took place on the 1st April 2017. Although expenses and allowances figures are based on April 2016 - April 2017, we have used this salary change date as a baseline.

Notes & Caveats

Calculations made using expenses (actual figures), not allowances, for the 2016-2017 financial year. The following must be considered when verifying the data:

  • 52 weeks per year, rather than 52.14.
  • 365 days per year, rather than 365.24
  • Salary data from 1st April 2017, Expenses data from April 2016-April 2017 and, therefore, are approximations of the current figure.
  • Figures include pension contribution.
  • Figures exclude Committee Chair bonus pay (listed in sources).
  • Figures include the following Expenses: Staffing, Office, Travel, Accommodation, Miscellaneous, and other delcared expenses.
  • Figures do not include Disability and Security Provisions, if applicable, due to lack of available data.
  • Figures exclude subsidised catering costs.
  • Figures may not sum to totals due to rounding.

In Addition

The sources used list specific information to consider:

Figures included are provisional as they are subject to external audit. Also, where disclosure of details of a claim would involve disclosure of sensitive personal data or pose a potential security risk (e.g. information relating to home address, regular journey details or a medical condition) reference to the particulars have been omitted from the disclosure.

Members may claim up to a maximum of £3,420 for overnight stays in Cardiff in each year. The maximum amount that may be claimed for each night is the same as the maximum that may be claimed [£95].
